4 Reasons Why You Should Go To A Makeup School
Trends in the beauty industry are changing faster than the weather in the UK. If you blink for too long, you will get left behind with the last week’s trend. Even if you are a makeup artist or a practiced makeup lover, there is always something new to learn about beauty and makeup. To keep myself on trend, I went to a 3-hours Master makeup class in Makeup London Academy last week. Enjoying the class at MLA, I’ve put together 4 reasons why we should go to makeup school.
Reason 1. Learn new skills or forgotten tricks
I was reminded of some tips and tricks that I had forgotten, and I’m going to share them with you guys:
Spend some money on your tools
“To me, tools and products are equally as important as the makeup skills that you have,” Aiicha, makeup artist at MLA says. She introduced the eight basic brushes we need:
1) Foundation brush
2) Concealer brush
3) Fluffy powder brush
4) Blush brush
5) Small blending brush
6) Flat eyeshadow brush
7) Precision angle brush
8) Lip brush
Mix primer with your foundation
Many people have a misconception that primer is only supposed to go on before foundation. But Aiicha says, “You can wear cream foundation as is for full coverage, or you can break it down to be more translucent by mixing it with some primer.” This is a useful way to retain the foundation’s coverage without looking caked on. Aiicha says this also helps the makeup blend seamlessly with the first layer of primer.
Fix your face shape
No need to be upset about your round face and button nose. What you can do is that don’t be lazy anymore and start contouring! So you can alter your face shape and features.
Reason 2. Learn about makeup trends
Like I said at the beginning, just like fashion, there are trends in the beauty and cosmetics industry. Doing a makeup course allows you to uncover the latest trends, so you can ensure the looks you create are always on trend. Apart from that you will be able to learn how to spot upcoming trends and where to look for inspiration for your makeup looks in the classes.
Reason 3. Participate in an active community
Everyone needs people who share the same interest as theirs. In makeup school, you can find loads of other makeup lovers, with who you are able to share your thoughts and ideas and have inspirational discussion about beauty. Most importantly, you get to start networking in the industry, which is helpful especially for those who want to start their career in beauty and makeup.
Reason 4. Take the first step to the career of your makeup dreams
For those who have passion to turn their hobby into a career, taking a makeup class in a professional makeup school is definitely a first step. Learning from the best gets you to be the best.
As a makeup lover, I did enjoy the class at Makeup London Academy in Camden. No matter if you are a makeup lover or a pro makeup artist, makeup school can and will surprise you.
