MAC Workshop

Makeup London Academy were invited to join an exclusive MAC workshop at the Camden store. Focusing on skincare, the head makeup artist Sinead demonstrated a natural day time look using some of their latest launches and cult favourite products. Using MAC’s Strobe Cream together with Face and Body foundation, Sinead created a hydrated, glowing base which gave the models skin just the right amount of coverage. To add depth to the face she mixed a sculpting cream base with a few drops of the Prep and Prime essential oils to smooth out the texture, allowing it to melt perfectly into the models skin. Sinead then demonstrated a quick smoky eye using the warm neutral palette and a brown eyeliner in the shade “Teddy”. The warm hues worked together perfectly to create a soft but refined eye look. The look was completed with a coat of Zoom Fast Black Lash and a swipe of lip glass...

MLA Official Makeup Team for Birmingham International Fashion Week!

We had the pleasure of taking a group of our makeup artists and past students to Birmingham International Fashion Week to be the official backstage makeup team for the whole event! The team did the makeup for all of the designers and models at the event and we had a fantastic time! Each member of the team worked so well together and we could really see the benefits of what our past students had learnt here at the academy! This was such a brilliant opportunity for our past students to work as the official makeup artists of such a high profile event and we were thrilled to see how they flourished in such a fast-paced environment! We pride ourselves on being able to provide the best aftercare opportunities for our students and this event was such a great example of that! Not only did they get to experience the industry first...

Colour Correction: Tips For Choosing Your Perfect Shade

Why correction is more essential than concealing The art of colour correction is usually overlooked, however most experienced makeup artists understand that most skin types have particular areas that require various shades of makeup to even out the skin tone. Whether you want to conceal red skin, hide dark circles or simply brighten key areas, Makeup London Academy has the perfect solution with our new Corrector Quad. Our multi-functional compacts have all the shades necessary to fit your skin needs. The small compact can be carried around with you and prevents the need of buying individual correctors in different shades, therefore is much more cost effective! The exciting new Corrector Quads come with four colours in each palette.   Choosing the right colour: • Yellow – Cancels out purple undertones seen in under-eye dark circles. • Mint – Conceals redness that may be caused by blemishes, acne or Rosacea. • Pink - Good for fair skin. Also used to hide...

4 Reasons Why You Should Go To A Makeup School

Trends in the beauty industry are changing faster than the weather in the UK. If you blink for too long, you will get left behind with the last week’s trend. Even if you are a makeup artist or a practiced makeup lover, there is always something new to learn about beauty and makeup. To keep myself on trend, I went to a 3-hours Master makeup class in Makeup London Academy last week. Enjoying the class at MLA, I’ve put together 4 reasons why we should go to makeup school. Reason 1. Learn new skills or forgotten tricks I was reminded of some tips and tricks that I had forgotten, and I’m going to share them with you guys:  Spend some money on your tools “To me, tools and products are equally as important as the makeup skills that you have," Aiicha, makeup artist at MLA says. She introduced the eight basic brushes we...
